STYLE CONSIDERATIONS Photographers today seem to take one of two distinct paths. The "traditional" wedding photographer's mission is to arrange and create formal poses. A look through your grandparents' wedding album will probably reveal a good example of traditional wedding photography. The traditionalist may spend hours setting up lighting equipment and arranging poses of the wedding party and their families. Unbridled, the traditionalist may so monopolize the bride and groom's time that the anticipated joy of the day gives way to fatigue and discontent. The "photojournalist," on the other hand, seeks out and captures "decisive moments" as they occur. Decisive moments are those split-second events that make each subject unique, such as expressions, emotions, mannerisms, etc. The photojournalist must release the shutter at just the right time in order to capture the essence and the emotion of the moment. A skilled and experienced photographer can anticipate those moments and be prepared to record those once-in-a-lifetime events.
